We all experience pain for a reason but on many occasions it is a warning for us to discontinue something we are doing. The pain can be the result of accident, sickness or disease but the point is if you know where the sensation is coming from then it is usually much easier to diagnose and then treat. However, there are occasions where even though we know where the pain is coming from we have trouble stopping it. People who suffer with back injuries, arthritis or migraines for instance are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain' which doesn't go away. Untold millions of people suffer from chronic pain and despite medicines best efforts there is no way currently to eliminate or prevent the cause of it. Often the cause of chronic pain is actually cured but the nerves still believe the condition is still present and the pain will often become the condition itself. The most popular treatment for chronic pain are prescription medications, but these often have adverse side effects ranging from nausea to fatigue, and can cease to be effective once a patient builds a tolerance; many people are now looking towards natural pain relief methods. One very old practice providing natural pain relief is acupuncture which many people who suffer with chronic illness tend to favor. Using tiny needles inserted into the body at specific locations, acupuncture is a well recognized traditional Chinese Medicine. Patients with conditions like severe back pain, migraines and arthritis claim it makes their condition much more bearable and relieves pain more than any conventional treatment they have used. Other alternative therapies are used to provide natural pain relief like herbal remedies which can also make claim to being side effect free. Herbal remedies as are often used for natural pain relief in combination and people suffering with arthritis find that Emu oil is very useful for their condition. Although they take longer to build up sufficiently in the system to provide any pain relief the greatest benefit is that everything that enters the system is perfectly natural and will not harm it. Despite all this advice, it is possible to lower the risk of needing natural pain relief during your life if you maintain a healthy diet and avoid those foods which we know to be detrimental to long term health like processed foods and foods that have a high fat or salt content. Also Sleep is essential to good health just as much as regular exercise is, even if it is only walking every day and using stairs rather than the elevator.
